3000 plus miles is a long haul from Sacramento, CA to attend a high school reunion in Virginia.  I won't be attending but I'll say hi to Dotti Blum and Larry Grube who will be attending.
I'm especially impressed by all our classmates who've disappeared and/or aren't attending.
I hope everyone who makes the reunion has a wonderful time catching up, etc.

mathematics professor Married
During the first 19 years after we graduated from high school, I never lived more than 4 consecutive years in any one place.  I spent 3.5 years in Chapel Hill earning a BS degree in mathematics, then 2.25 years teaching middle school mathematics as a Peace Corps Volunteer on the lovely Carribean island of Nevis, then 2 years at Virginia Tech earning an MS in mathematics, then 2.25 years teaching college mathematics as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the African country of Zaire, then back to Virgiina Tech for 4 years, earning my Ph.D. in mathematics, then 2 years in Cincinnati teaching mathematics at Xavier University, then 3 years in Richmond, teaching mathematics at VCU.  Finally in 1988 I found my dream position at Millersville University in Lancaster County, PA, where I taught mathematics for 30.5 years, retiring in January 2019.  Along the way I became reacquainted with our classmate Charlie Batten and we got married at age 60.  It feels really good to be settled down. After graduation I became employed with the National Park Service and moved with my office from DC  to Denver Colorado. I tarted out as an offset pressman, progressing to a scanning tech/photographer during my 37 year carrer. I had a break in service in 1977, to become a drummer for a group on the east coast called "JANICE". We performed at several colleges along the east and south east. We also did a month at the COKE Pavillion at Disney World. Janice is the cousin of Maurice White of Earth Wind and Fire, and consequently we opened a show for them in New Orleans.  Missed Colorado, and returned to work with the National Park Service in late 1978. Married in 1972, divorced in 1976, before welcoming a son, Van Justin, who currently lives in Larkspur Colorado. Remarried in 1984 to Sharon Procopio. We were married for 24 years until her death to ALS in April 2008. Currently married 6 years to Terry. I have my own DJ/MC business, Van Jeffries Mobile Rock & Roll and perform from May thru Oct at 31 car show events in the Denver Area. I do wonder what ever happened to Jennifer Meyer,Charlene Chin,Kathy Gallivan, Sue Myers, and a keyboard player for our group we had in High School Bob "O" with Kent Krotzer, and Trudy Cavallo, Alan Rinker. Those were the days.  As I say out here in Colorado, "KEEP YOUR PEDAL TO THE METAL AND YOUR SHINY SIDE UP. Regards Van Jeffrey Brower "69" Send Van a MessageSend Van a Message
